Around £50 million worth of contracts for this year’s London Olympics are still up for grabs and firms are being urged to act quickly.
Nearly 70 per cent of suppliers to the Games are SME’s, with more than 250 such firms having been awarded contracts. Two-thirds of those companies are based outside London.
The Olympic Delivery Authority, which is responsible for the infrastructure for the London 2012 Olympics, currently has around 1,500 suppliers, the majority of which are small businesses.
Details of available contracts can be viewed at www.competefor.com, a website set up in association with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
With available contracts linked to both the Games and other major public and private sector buying organisations, such as Transport for London (TfL), Crossrail and the Metropolitan Police, UK motorsport and high performance engineering firms are strongly encouraged to explore and take advantage of these opportunities to secure new business.
