‘King Of Le Mans’ Kristensen joins Autosport International line-up

As the only person to clinch eight victories in the world’s most famous endurance race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Tom Kristensen is the most successful sports car driver in history. The Dane will be joining his Audi team-mate and fellow Le Mans victor Allan McNish at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC) on 12-15 January 2012 to entertain motorsport fans at Autosport International, the world’s greatest motorsport show.

In a career spanning 27 years, Kristensen has proved an unstoppable force: taking victories in every category in which he has competed, from karting to single-seaters, touring cars and sports cars, in addition to testing for both Tyrrell and Michelin in Formula One.

Kristensen has achieved global success as an Audi factory driver, racing four generations of Audi sports cars and six versions of the Audi A4 DTM. The 44-year-old’s dominant endurance racing performances beyond Le Mans include taking the 2002 American Le Mans Series title and securing an unprecedented five victories at the Sebring 12 Hours.

2011 has been another successful year for the Dane: besides competing in Intercontinental Le Mans Cup for Audi, Kristensen made a brief comeback in DTM, won the Royal Automobile Club TT race at September’s Goodwood Revival, judged the European F1 Grand Prix as a driver steward and made it to both finals at the Race of Champions.

An idol to sports car enthusiasts across the world, Kristensen will be appearing at the show on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 January to discuss his colourful career and his aims for 2012, which surely will include setting his sights on another Le Mans victory.

“Britain has the best motorsport fans in the world and I can’t wait to meet them at Autosport International,” said Kristensen. “The show is a great place to see not only the world of motorsport in one place, but my fellow racing colleagues under one roof.”

Kristensen and McNish are just two of the household names attending Autosport International 2012: motorsport fans can also look forward to seeing F1 celebrities Paul Di Resta, Jake Humphrey and David Coulthard.
