Two critical technologies that are being developed for space applications – Advanced Packaging and MEMS – also have significant commercial applications for industry. Both these technologies result in miniaturisation of essential sensors, actuators and electronic components. MEMS technology is now being commercialised across a wide variety of market sectors including automotive, industrial controls, medical, consumer and IT.
