During Motorsport ExpoTech in Modena, the Dino Paoli Award, which originated last year in collaboration with Assomotoracing of Italy, was awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to excellence in motorsport - in the sport and the industry. The 2009 edition was awarded to Chris Aylett, CEO of the Motorsport Industry Association, for their efforts in enhancing in the links between the UK and Italian motor racing.
"We presented this Award to Chris Aylett of the MIA" - says Francesco Paoli, daughter of the famous Dino died last year - "for helping to create international awareness of the excellence of companies from the Italian motorsport industry and Modena show , not only in Britain but also abroad”. This unusual award was created by technology and materials used in wind tunnels, and was presented also by Alfonso Galvani, president of Assomotoracing.
Dino Paoli srl. has been the leader in the field of pneumatic wheel guns and screwdrivers since 1968, and is headquartered in Reggio Emilia. It is a supplier to all the teams in Formula 1, GP2, Formula Nippon, DTM, Formula Renault World Series, A1 GP, F3000 and many others.
Background of the award
In 2008, Mr. Dino Paoli founder of the eponymous Italian company, based in Reggio Emilia died prematurely, leaving the helm of his beloved firm to his two daughters, its directors and employees.
The passion of this craftsman - entrepreneur, his friendship with many owners of teams and drivers in the world of Formula 1, his ingenuity in building a very complex product which had strength, speed and extreme reliability of operation - all were part of his skills as a businessman.
The important decision was made to recognise this exceptional man within Assomotoracing (Association of Cultural History and Technique of racing engines) with an Award named after him. A prize that, rightly, has the intent to remember this wonderful person, and also recognize efficiency, rational organization and operational excellence inside and outside the "racing pits at the track". The almost spontaneous Prize was born as " The Dino Paoli Award". This was strongly desired by the Assomotoracing to mark those people who create, develop, exploit and lead to success the business techniques of the motorsport industry.
