Framework 7

Framework 7 is the major European programme for collaborative R&D. Strong publicly-funded assistance is available for participants (through FP7UK and the Knowledge Transfer Netowrks) and more than ever, there is a strong focus on involving SMEs in a significant, value-added way.

The aim of this event is to help SMEs to understand the benefits and issues of Framework Participation to help them to make an informed business decision on proposal submission and participation.

What is FP7?
FP7 is the short name for the “Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development”, which is the EU's main instrument for funding research in Europe and runs from 2007 to 2013.

The EC budget for FP7 for the next seven years is € 50.5 billion

FP7 supports research in selected priority areas - the aim being to make, or keep, the EU as a world leader in those sectors and is designed to respond to Europe’s employment needs and competitiveness.

Why get involved in FP7?
Participating in FP7 has many potential benefits: up to 50% of the cost of undertaking R&D that you might not otherwise to able to do; opportunities to be part of a pan-European consortia sharing knowledge, skills and expertise; raise your profile; access to new business markets. Taking part could enable you to become involved in ambitious, leading-edge projects.

Where can I find out about previous successful UK projects?
Take a look at the “case studies” section on the main FP7UK website ( www.fp7uk.co.uk) for information about UK success stories during the previous FP5 and FP6 programmes.
