Keltie (www.keltie.com) is a London-based firm of patent and trade mark attorneys and a Member of the MIA. It has motorsport clients ranging from grass-roots component suppliers up to Formula 1, and its Patent Group includes teams covering automotive, aerospace, marine and environmental technologies.
Keltie has again been listed in the annual survey 'The Sunday Times 100 Best Small Companies to Work For'. Despite a larger field of candidates this year, the firm has maintained its ranking of 16th in the list for 2009. It is the only legal practice to feature in the Small Companies list (for companies comprising 50-250 staff) this year.
In a parallel competition open to companies of any size, Keltie has again achieved Best Companies* top three-star accreditation, ranked
*extraordinary* - an achievement shared by less than 7% of entrants across all sectors. As in 2008, the firm is one of just two legal practices to achieve that standard, and the only firm of patent and trade mark attorneys.
The Best Companies awards are based on confidential responses by staff to survey questions covering topics entitled Leadership, My Manager, My Team, My Company, Fair Deal, Well Being, Giving Something Back and Personal Growth.
Factors in Keltie*s high placing include an annual staff retreat weekend to discuss business strategy and development; cross-firm teams to discuss and share ideas; daily communication and feedback meetings; healthcare for all staff, flexible working schemes for parents; the ability to work from home; additional maternity and paternity benefits; childcare vouchers; and profit-related pay. The firm and its staff also support numerous charities, for example being corporate supporters of The National Trust.
Commenting on the 2009 awards, partner Sean Cummings said: *It is to the credit of everyone at Keltie that our unique culture and working environment have again led to Best Companies awards. We scored well across all categories despite increasing competition and our rapid growth in personnel over the past year. We take special pride because everyone here plays their part and pulls together.
We recruit great people and we look after them; they in turn attract great clients and give their best to them. In that way, our clients know that being one of the best firms to work for also makes us one of the best firms to work with.*
Date for your diaries: Keltie is hosting an event for MIA Members in London on Thursday 17 September 2009 - a boat trip on the Thames.
