In the June 2008 issue of Real Business magazine (www.realbusiness.co.uk) Motorsport was positively featured in a national survey undertaken by the Bank of Scotland Corporate.
In a special feature entitled “The New Manufacturers” ,an excellent article by Charles Orton-Jones, headed “Torque of the Town – the new Industrial Revolution” the UK motorsport industry and MIA members featured heavily. Charles assessed the general UK manufacturing sector and reported…..
”and then there’s Motorsport…..if the rest of British industry performed like these guys we would be laughing at the Chinese. ‘our Motorsport industry turns over $6billlion and that is more than France, Germany and Italy put together’, says Chris Aylett, CEO of the Motorsport Industry Association ‘Every young engineering student – from Seoul to San Francisco – wants to come and work here – we attract the cream of global talent. This is truly the Hollywood of engineering.’ “
Chris Aylett went on to highlight several world-class start-up companies including Crompton Technology Group, Advanced Engineering Technology (AET) and others, claiming that “ferocious competition amongst our industry is why we are world-class and remain so.”
In a survey that followed of all British manufacturers, 45% of companies responded that they thought “Britain is the best country in the world at Motorsport”. A powerful endorsement of Britain’s Motorsport Valley and our members.
