Simplification 2010-2015 - request for HM Government for information

You may be aware the British Government has set itself a new target for 2010-2015 to reduce the regulatory burden on business by a further £6.5billion. As part of this process they have issued a call for evidence for organisations and businesses to put forward their comments and ideas as to where simplification should take place.

Specifically, they are asking

  • Which regulatory activities do you believe place disproportionate costs on business, compared to the benefits delivered?
  • What action could the Government take to remove or reduce these costs without undermining the policy intention of the regulation(s) concerned? What benefits would this deliver?

There is specific focus on business environment; business law; consumer issues; employment and skills; health and social welfare and natural environment.

(More information is available from -  http://www.berr.gov.uk/whatwedo/bre/policy/simplifying-existing-regulation/simplification-plans/page54027.html)

As a member of the CBI, the MIA will work with them to submit a response – the CBI corporate affairs team will coordinate this.

To help with this process please advise the MIA – adam.pointer@the-mia.com - which regulatory activities place unnecessary costs on business and what could be done to help their business.

Please send any suggestions to Adam BY CLOSE OF PLAY WEDNESDAY 10 FEBRUARY 2010 and we will pass these along to the CBI
