1,200 Engineers attend MIA motorsport and high performance capability showcase at JLR, Gaydon

35 MIA member companies, from motorsport and high performance engineering, were invited by Jaguar Land Rover, to showcase their engineering capabilities in JLR's Gaydon Design Studio.

The MIA, whose 'Motorsport to Automotive' programme created this unique showcase, is pleased that this exhibition was a resounding success, attracting over 1,200 automotive engineers, who saw what this great UK industry has to offer.

Their appetite for innovation was clear and new opportunities were explored. Displays included the Nissan Juke-R, the Williams F1 Team Car, the QT Wildcat, the Defender 90 Zulu Convertible and the RML Chevrolet Cruze World Touring Car.

This success affirms the growing interest and strength of collaborations between the motorsport and automotive sectors. Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA said: "I am delighted that JLR supports this programme so enthusiastically. These SME companies are keen to help supply the success story that is JLR, focussing on innovative, low-carbon solutions and R&D work".

Tony Harper, Head of Research at JLR, said: "The UK has a great strength in motorsport and high-performance engineering. At JLR, we are determined to realise the potential this offers for driving technological innovation in our products. The showcase at Gaydon was a big step in the overall 'Motorsport to Automotive' journey."
