ALMS Promoters Trophy Awarded to Paul Drayson

The American Le Mans Series (ALMS) honoured its drivers, teams, crews and manufacturers on Sunday October 19th at the season-ending awards banquet in Monterey, California. In addition to honouring its champions, the Series also awarded several special awards to deserving recipients. Included in these was Paul Drayson, who was presented with the Promoters' Trophy for his outstanding dedication and promotion of the ALMS, and its platform of alternative fuels, throughout the season.

This capped a positive end to the ALMS year for the Drayson-Barwell team, with us having enjoyed a good run of results in the second half of the season including points-scoring performances at Mid-Ohio, Mosport, Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca. Another fact to be proud of is that our elite team crew kept a clean sheet with IMSA, incurring zero rules penalties throughout the entire season. These performances contributed to the following classifications in the final ALMS GT2 Class points standings:

Drivers Overall: 21st= place for Paul Drayson and Jonny Cocker out of a total of 56 points-scoring drivers.

Founders Cup for privateer drivers: 8th place for Paul Drayson out of 22 points-scoring drivers.

Teams: 8th place for Drayson-Barwell out of a total of 13 points-scoring teams.

Manufacturers: 4th place for Aston Martin (ahead of Dodge, Ford & Chevrolet) out of a total of 7 points-scoring manufacturers.

Tyres: 2nd place for Dunlop out of a total of 6 points-scoring tyre suppliers.

Drayson-Barwell would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible, including (in no particular order!):

Don Panoz, Scott Atherton, Tim Mayer, Julie Bentley and all the staff at IMSA and ALMS, Aston Martin Racing, Dale White, JCB, Dunlop, Performance Friction, Sabelt, YA Logistics, Firstair. Bauer Aston Martin, Aston Martin Long Island, Aston Martin of Atlanta, Aston Martin Silicon Valley, Tom Papadopoulos and Autosport Designs Inc. Adam Mancuso, Lenny, Mike and Lake Forest Sports Cars. Dick Barbour, Fuel Consulting, Adrian Morley at The Seen, Greenlight TV & Tiff Needell for capturing all the excitement on film!
