The University of Southampton would like to invite you to the first BLOODHOUND@University Special Interest Group meeting. This will be held on Tuesday 15th September 2009 from 1030-1530 at the University of the West of England, Bristol, which is where the BLOODHOUND Supersonic Car is being designed (www.BLOODHOUNDSSC.com).
The meeting will bring you up to speed on the 1000mph car and its engineering status. We will then describe the BLOODHOUND@University programme; the open access nature of this project makes it unique when compared to other aerospace and automotive projects.
The BLOODHOUND@University Special Interest Group, led by UWE, Swansea University and the University of Southampton, will be the main UK HE community activity around BLOODHOUND SSC. The overall aims of the SIG are:
- To make technical data open for educational use, including CAD, CFD, FEA;
- Telemetry and test data ;
- Design process & lessons learned by the engineering team ;
- To create and disseminate curriculum and resources around the world’s fastest car ;
- To run activities and competitions for University students around BLOODHOUND SSC.
The afternoon will be spent brainstorming to shape the BH@Uni programme to meet your needs, to ensure that we deliver what is wanted. There will be opportunities to meet the design team and see the full-scale car mock-up during the day.
We know this is short notice, but we wanted to have a meeting before the new academic year kicks-off in earnest. We hope that you, or one of your colleagues, can attend. There is no fee, lunch and refreshments will be provided.
This programme is supported by the Higher Education Academy Engineering Subject Centre (http://www.engsc.ac.uk/).
Please reply to Dr Kenji Takeda (ktakeda@southampton.ac.uk) if you would like to attend and for more details.
Many thanks and hope to see you on 15/9.
