Good Fabs, one of motorsport’s leading manufacturers of exhaust systems and MIA member, is now able to offer a complete service in–house from original design to complete product. The enhancement of the company’s offering follows the appointment this week of André Ferreira as CAD designer.
Twenty-four year old André, who comes from a practical background and is both engineer and designer, brings a new dimension to Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire based Good Fabs. Whereas, previously, a customer was more likely to approach the company with a model, it can now offer design from scratch.
André has recently completed a Motorsports Engineering and Management MSc from Cranfield University having presented an individual thesis on the redesign of a motorcycle engine for wide use in car racing. This made use of 1D simulation, CAD and FE Analysis tools. He also holds a Mechanical Engineering BEng from the University of Sheffield.
Born in Portugal, André has shown his enthusiasm for motorsport, marshalling during his time in Sheffield and working with the University’s Formula Student team. He more recently acted as a mechanic for the SEAT Cupra Championship UK winning team Total Control Racing. Topically, he was part of one of the winning groups in Cranfield University’s recent “KERS for an LMP Car” project, which was held in partnership with Williams Hybrid Power.
Good Fabs supplies exhaust systems to teams across the motorsport spectrum from Formula One to Formula Student. Customers can be found on both sides of the Atlantic and includes Joe Gibbs Racing, one of the leading NASCAR teams in the USA. Such clients are increasingly demanding with their requirements and, in appointing André, Good Fabs can now offer a complete package that can rival any in this high specification industry.
