April:

>> The Extremes of Defence Medical Capability - 23 April 2012 - Birmingham
This CDE call for research proposals will be focussed on both novel approaches to bespoke military needs and the translation of civilian medical systems into the military environment. Two of the priorities for Defence medicine lie at opposite ends of the spectrum of medical care: maintaining the effectiveness of deployed forces in extreme environments, and providing rehabilitative support to injured personnel who have sacrificed their safety in the call of duty. This call will be launched with a seminar at the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on 23 April 2012. This call closes on Thursday 31 May 2012 at 1200 noon.

To offer further support to inventors, industry and academia, the Centre for Defence Enterprise (CDE) offers "One-to-One" surgeries to provide individual guidance to innovators. The surgery provides personal support, guidance and advice. Proposals will be discussed in a previously prepared and submitted ‘Quad Chart’ format; each appointment will last for 30 minutes.

MOD’s ‘Armour and Protection Science and Technology Centre’ will be launching a call for research proposals through the Centre for Defence Enterprise for long term research in the area of innovative and novel protection systems, in particular active systems, that will provide a significant, possibly revolutionary, advance on current technologies. There will be a particular focus on active protection systems.

This is a CDE call for research proposals for 'Enhancing Land Platform Mobility'. Operational and tactical mobility remains a challenge for deployed forces on operations; the Mobility Research Programme is looking to enhance future capability. The scope of the programme includes the Platform Mobility, Mobility Support and Counter Mobility of both mounted and dismounted forces.

>> Maritime Autonomous Mission Systems and Missile Defence Challenges - 26 June 2012 - Location tbc
This CDE call is for research proposals (1) developing new solutions and technology that address the challenges in future missile defence systems; and (2)demonstrating the utility of unmanned systems, and developing solutions that address the challenges that are limiting the exploitation of unmanned systems, developed for other applications, for a wide range of maritime operations including niche anti submarine warfare (ASW) and mine countermeasures (MCM) activity.
