The CBI are offering a rare opportunity to hear from one of the world's most influential business leaders - Alan Mulally, president and CEO of the Ford Motor Company, during this years annual lecture on 27th September.

Alan Mulally is president and chief executive officer of Ford Motor Company. Prior to joining Ford in September 2006, Mulally served as executive vice president of The Boeing Company, and president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

During this time, Mulally took the company from a $12.6bn loss, in 2006, to being the only U.S car company to avoid bancruptcy in 2009 - posting a $2.6bn profit. Over the same period, Ford began regaining market share after years of decline. Hear about the Ford plan and their reflections on the automotive industry into 2011 and beyond.

Mulally also serves on the President's Export Council, which was formed in 2010 to advise U.S President Barack Obama on export enhancement and ways to encourage companies to increase exports and enter new markets.

Throughout his career, Mulally has been recognised for his contributions and industry leadership, including being named one of "The World's Most Influential People" by TIME magazine in their 2009 "Time 100" issue, and "Person of the Year" in 2006, by Aviation Week magazine.

Described as versatile, competitive and ebullient, Mulally has gained huge respect for moving effectively between the aerospace and automotive industries.
