Sportscar superstar Allan McNish is the third Scotsman to confirm his attendance at Autosport International, the world’s greatest motorsport show, which takes place at the Birmingham NEC on 12-15 January 2012.
Former F1 driver McNish remains one of the most highly rated sportscar racers of the modern era, enjoying worldwide success in his nine-year career as an Audi driver, interspersed with his Formula One appearances from 2001-2003.
His endurance racing achievements include two victories in the Le Mans 24 Hours plus three Sebring 12 Hours wins, along with three American Le Mans Series titles. He is also a four-time winner of the 1,000km Petit Le Mans race; an event in which he competed last weekend with Audi Sport Team Joest team-mates Tom Kristensen and Dindo Capello.
McNish will be joining fellow countrymen David Coulthard and F1 new boy Paul Di Resta on the Saturday and Sunday of Autosport International, interacting with fans and discussing his aims for the 2012 season on the Autosport Stage.
“As an Autosport International veteran, every year I’m continually impressed by the diversity of the show,” commented McNish. “There’s no other place like it for motorsport fans, where you can see cars and meet personalities from so many different series over the weekend.”
Autosport International welcomes more than 80,000 visitors each year, to enjoy spectacular live racing, celebrity appearances and supercar displays. Highlights include the Live Action Arena, the UK’s largest indoor race track, and a display of contemporary Grand Prix machinery at the F1 Racing Grid.
