Ginetta Goes on Display in Westminster

08 Nov 2013

Ginetta is proud to be part of Global Entrepreneurship Week UK 2013 and invites you to see our cars exhibited in the heart of Westminster to celebrate our entrepreneurial endeavours and the British manufacturing heritage.

The G40R and G60 will be displayed outside the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills from 18th – 22nd November at 1 Victoria Street, Westminster, London SW1H 0ET.

Ginetta Heritage
Lawrence Tomlinson acquired Ginetta in 2005, and since then has turned the historic British marque from its nostalgic roots in the 60’s - 70’s and turned it into what is today; a formidable player on the world motorsport scene. With a trio of single-make racing championships which support the British Touring Car Championship and British GT, as well as the production of world-beating GT cars, Ginetta recently expanded into the road car market with the G40R and G60 – two hand-built Yorkshire sports cars, which are very different in nature. As well as being a successful businessman, maintaining a hands-on role in running Ginetta, Lawrence is currently the Government’s Serial Entrepreneur in Residence, advising on business policy. He is proud of Ginetta’s British heritage and will by flying the flag for British manufacturing, exhibiting two cars outside the Department for Business for Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The G60 is rare by any standards - with production numbers strictly limited to 50 each year - but rarer still is a modern British car company who have purposely engineered-out any and all superfluous electronic gadgetry. The carbon fibre G60 is built by the same impassioned team who build our race cars; indeed it shares the same 3.7 litre engine as its G55 GT3 racing stable-mate – although this car has been designed with a boot capable of housing two sets of gold clubs.

Under the skin, the carbon fibre shell is bonded to a stiff steel chassis accommodating the Ginetta 310bhp engine, and six-speed manual gearbox with an ATB limited slip differential - tested in the same Ginetta engine lab and dyno facility used to test our race cars.

Focused on delivering a pure driving experience Ginetta has stripped out any extra weight in the G60. Traction control, servo brakes and ABS have not been added, instead honest engineering has perfected the performance and handling, resulting in a beautiful and addictive sports car.

For drivers who want something a little more race ready, Ginetta has their ‘race car for the road’ in the G40R. A pure enthusiast’s car which has everything focused around the driver’s enjoyment: On the road you get a unique, fun and rewarding performance-based driver’s car, whilst on the track you get a recognised giant killer offering a racing thoroughbred with enough excitement to thrill even the most experienced driver.

The G40R shares a number of characteristics with its G40 racing sibling, representing the culmination of Ginetta’s racing pedigree translated perfectly into a road car. Harking back to a bygone era when cars were machines designed to be driven, everything about the G40R is kept faithful to the pure driving experience.

Responsive handling, strong FIA approved safety cell and lightweight body all combine to produce a perfectly proportioned, stunning car that is impossible to drive without sporting a wide grin. It’s simple, drive to the circuit, win and drive home again.

Ginetta Racing Drivers Club

Recognising the need to implement a clear route for road car owners wishing to race their Ginetta G40’s, the Yorkshire marque recently established the Ginetta Racing Drivers Club. Created exclusively for drivers with limited track experience, the GRDC is an all-inclusive package which begins with the delivery of a new, fully road registered Ginetta G40 club race car and includes everything from one-on-one driver tuition at dedicated track days to receiving a National B racing licence.
Members of the GRDC and their family and friends will receive full hospitality at every meeting as well as invitations to a number of events throughout the year which includes golf days, factory tours and all expenses paid trip to the 24 Heures Du Mans.
