Beneficial changes have been made to the recent UKTI Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) scheme, which provides financial support to UK SMEs companies attending international trade shows include:
- Additional grant “lives” for those who have already claimed support three times
- Far simpler eligibility criteria for experienced exporters
- Faster and streamlined application procedures
These recent changes now mean:
The “three times rule” - where a business may not receive any more than three UKTI TAP grants - has been revised. Now, businesses who have exhausted their three grant “lives” will be allowed one additional grant in each financial year (i.e. the year after the year in which they exhausted their three lives). To secure this extra grant, these companies must attend a “core event” exhibition which is recognised as a major show for the sector, or an event in an emerging market.
UKTI TAP scheme has also now agreed to offer support to more experienced SME exporters at all the events in the TAP programme, provided that business has not participated in the previous edition of that event, with or without TAP grant.
