Goodridge, the UK global manufacturer of performance fluid transfer systems, has won a £6 million (US$10 million) contract to supply parts to Cummins, the US-based engine and power-generation equipment maker.
The five-year contract is a major diversification for Goodridge in the US, where it is better known for providing brake lines to the off-road motorcycle industry.
Goodridge will provide water cooling hoses to Cummins’ new Centaur diesel engine and fuel delivery hoses to the new Monarch Black diesel engine programme.
Cummins is the largest manufacturer of medium and heavy duty diesel engines in the world with annual sales of more than $14 billion.
From 2011, Goodridge will manufacture around 150,000 parts a year at its plant in Tijuana, Mexico, where it is investing £400,000 ($650,000) in new equipment and facilities to meet the Cummins order.
Jon Hourihan, Group Head of Sales at Goodridge, said: “This represents a major breakthrough for Goodridge in the US market and further proof of our ability to meet customers’ exacting fluid transfer needs.
“We’ll be providing our pioneering hard line and flexible hose combinations, for water and fuel applications, and there are further opportunities to bid on, including oil and turbo delivery systems on many future and current engines programs.”
Jamie Ramsden VP Commercial, Goodridge USA, said "Cummins represents a new chapter in Goodridge USA's OEM capabilities. The account highlights the progressive success we have had in opening our Tijuana, Mexico facility 5 years ago, and it further punctuates the world-class quality standards our company is known for."
Goodridge, which is headquartered in Exeter in the UK, has annual sales circa £30 million and eight manufacturing operations in the UK, America, Mexico, France, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Japan.
