Updates on two grants available from Coventry University Enterprises for innovation and R&D.
The two grants available for qualifying projects are:
Niche Innovation Scheme
The ERDF funded scheme offers West Midlands SMEs R&D grants of between £4,000 and £20,000 to develop new products for the Niche Vehicle Sector.
Grants must be used to cover the cost of purchasing services from established research partners such as Universities or Technology Organisations to develop new and innovative products.
Projects must be focused on low carbon technologies:
- Electric machines and power electronics
- Internal combustion engines
- Energy storage and energy management
- Intelligent mobility
- Light weight vehicle and power train structures
- The grant can cover up to 40% of the total project costs.

Electric and Intelligent Vehicles project
The Electric and Intelligent Vehicles project offers grant support for West Midlands SMEs looking to access expertise relating to electric and intelligent vehicle technologies.
This support aims to help businesses to diversify into new and emerging markets; build their knowledge, expertise and capability; and help to attract major new business to the West Midlands. Grants will cover 40% of the total SME spend which can be between
£20,000 - £50,000.
The grant can be used towards project related costs such as consultancy, I.P.R, market research or the use of facilities for testing and certification.
