Have you used the OMIS service from UKTI? If so, please help us.
Many MIA members have used the OMIS (Overseas Market Information Service) report system from UKTI. This is handled by overseas Posts who produce market information and, indeed, appointment services for UK companies. The House of Commons Business and Enterprise Select Committee is currently reviewing whether the Government is doing enough to help UK businesses grasp export opportunities. During a recent meeting, the Committee asked for examples (good and bad) of OMIS reports. They wanted companies to send details of these reports, in strict confidence, directly to them, for their review.
Whilst many had positive comments about OMIS, a significant proportion were also critical and felt that the OMIS reports were of really poor value. The Select Committee asked Trade Associations if they could help encourage companies, who have used the OMIS service, to make direct contact with them. The MIA is asking any members willing to do so, to please contact jayne.thomas@the-mia.com, who will then advise how to pass the details along to the Select Committee.a
