On 1 October 2009, the UKIPO will introduce some changes to the fees and procedures for filing trade mark applications. These changes are:
- e-filing discount - which amounts to a £30 reduction in official fees.
- "Right Start" application - which entails payment of half of the standard application fee up front and the option to pay the remainder following examination if you decide to proceed with the application.
- Series applications - the number of marks which may constitute a series will be capped at 6. Separate fees will be payable after first 2 marks. It will not now be possible to divide the application if objections are raised.
- Extension of time fees increase to £100.
