Racing’s a tough sport and the racing industry is equally as challenging. When we decided to create the IMIS Safety Conference as part of the new International Motorsports Industry Show (IMIS) I thought it would be like most things in racing, hard to get off the ground.

Amazingly, it hasn’t been as tough as I expected which tells me we’re on to something that’s long overdue. Aft er all, it seems like safety seminars are popping up everywhere. But what are the results? Do these seminars get action items accomplished? Many times they don’t. We’re going to change that.
Since we told the world about the IMIS Safety Conference, there has been unbelievable response. There’s an incredible passion with everyone in the industry when it comes to safety, but there seems to be a missing ingredient - communication. This is our mission, open up communication within the racing industry. We want to open the door to the millions of dollars invested in great technology that’s been developed by sanctioning bodies, manufacturers, independent researchers and others who have devoted their time, talent and resources to lead this effort. We want to create a channel that brings that expertise to the intermediate and lower level forms of racing, saving lives and preventing injuries.
We’re going to accomplish our goal by putting people together in an environment where they can get in touch with this technology first hand. We’ve brought Kirk Russell on board as our Safety Conference Coordinator. Kirk’s motorsports credentials speak for themselves. He has assembled a panel of superstars in the field of safety; track, driver and medical.
Due to the overwhelming response, we have already scheduled two days in 2010 for the Safety Conference and it will certainly evolve into a three day conference in the future. We have identified other very achievable goals beyond the inaugural conference in terms of safety related programs. We look forward to your input as well.
Welcome aboard and thank you,
Chris Paulsen
