"We are very pleased with the EM Motorsport F1 Marshalling System (F1MS) which we have used at all Formula One races since the beginning of 2007. The FIA funded the original development of the system and has since helped EM Motorsport refine the specification to fully achieve the original goals.
The FIA has always been committed to increasing safety in motor sport and the F1MS has provided us with an incredibly useful tool to enhance awareness of what's happening on the track at all times, this has had several tangible benefits. Further enhancements to the system, namely the Electronic Flags and the Safety Car panels, have provided additional safety for drivers.
One main benefit of the F1MS is that the light panels can be located closer to the track as the operator can be placed in a remote location, this in inherently safer for the marshals and of course better for the drivers as the signals are closer to them. Furthermore, the same light signals are shown in the cockpit of each car.
The Race Control Management software is very easy to use and has been designed to help the race officials with instant warnings of blue flag situations during a race and speeding in yellow sector.
EM Motorsport has helped the FIA with various safety systems since 2004 and has always shown their commitment by supplying good and reliable state-of-the-art systems."
Charlie Whiting, FIA F1 Race director
"Effective management of on-track activities and the ability to provide substantially better information to both participants and officials in real time are significant steps forward for the sport both in safety and in the quality of entertainment. These developments will help pave the way to more uniformity and consistency in all aspects of track operations everywhere."
Mark Raffauf, managing director of competition for Grand-Am
"How many times have we heard, ‘I didn't see the flags’? Well, those days are now long gone."
