Innovation Towards Sustainable Materials - 10-11 November 2010, London, UK

Sustainability KTN, the Tata Sons Climate Change Group and Harsco Metals Group, are to hold the Innovation Towards Sustainable Materials Conference at the Royal Society, London on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 November 2010.

The conference will explain the approach across a range of material sectors and will consider the issues across whole supply chain from the mining of raw materials through to consumer products and market sectors such as construction, automotive, packaging and energy sectors. In addition, it will explore the methods and tools, such as life cycle assessment, which can be used to support decision making towards sustainability.

The comprehensive programme sets out the future challenges and aims to help the materials industries and associated professions to re-think their collective role and to set out new strategies. As well as meeting the demands of sustainability there are also huge opportunities for businesses to support the development and adoption of new technologies and also to consider new business models which are better aligned to meet future needs.

The programme features presentations from Professor Roland Clift MBE (Distinguished Professor of Environmental Technology, Surrey University), Ian Christmas (Secretary General  World Steel Association), Per Sandberg (Director, World Business Council for Sustainable Development), Richard Swannell (Director, WRAP), and guest speaker Tom Heap from the BBC Radio 4 programme ‘Costing the Earth’.

The full schedule of presentations is available on the Conference Website – www.iom3.org/events/sustainability.

The fee to attend both days is £280.00 plus VAT for IOM3 members and £350.00 plus VAT for non-members.  Concessions are available for students and delegates currently not in employment.
