The Science Capital’s Advanced Materials Meeting is on Wednesday 16 March (5:30-9pm) at Hotel du Vin Birmingham. It will focus on the development of new technologies and designs for the automotive and transport industries.
Talks will be given by:
Mark White, Jaguar’s Chief Technical Specialist on Lightweight Structures, on how aerospace-inspired aluminium construction is being used to improve performance and fuel economy of cars including the new XJ while using recycled materials and reducing emissions.
Bryn Richards, CEO of Aeristech Ltd, a technology start-up which investors including Midven recently awarded £500k and winner of the Wales Innovation Award, will present the fullElectric turbocharger technology for lighter, more fuel efficient engines.
Kerry Kirwan from the Warwick Manufacturing Group, who is designing and building mobile phones, plastic car windows and the WorldFirst Formula 3 racing car from green materials, showing the public how engineering delivers great products in an era of sustainability.
On Wednesday 15 June there is also a Low Carbon Meeting focusing on the housing industry, with speakers including Chris Handy, Chief Executive of Accord Group.
The panel discussions will explore ways to accelerate innovation in the region, new infrastructure and incentives, consumer behaviour, and partnering between academia, SME and industry.
