Is future trade with the USA of importance to your company... Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations

23 Jul 2013

The MIA is proud to be the only motorsport-related UKTI Trade Challenge Partner, as such we aim to help all companies in UK motorsport, where we can., not solely those in our membership.  As this issue is so significant we want to open the question to all in the UK industry to ensure everyone has the chance to comment. We have been asked, by The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, to collate replies urgently – before August 2nd.

These ask you to outline any particular trade issues that affect the ability of your company to do business in the USA,  and which you would like to see addressed in the forthcoming Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations.

These may include the following types of barriers faced, or others, and need your brief assessment of the likely impact on your company of removing such barriers…

• Tariffs
• Non-tariff barriers
• Regulatory issues
• Intellectual Property Rights
• Any other barriers…feel free to explain any other limitations that could be resolved by government agreement

These are long-term high level negotiations, which will take time to bear fruit,  but they are of potentially enormous benefit to UK motorsport, as the USA will remain our largest single export market for many years to come.

Please send your replies to carly.latcham@the-mia.com before August 2nd so we can include these in our response.
