LMP Race Cars and KERS

LMP Race Cars and KERS – if you have a business interest then Cranfield University students, at very little cost, may be able to help.

If your business plans, in any way, involves KERS or the production/running of an LMP car, then students on the Masters Motorsport Course at Cranfield University, would like to hear from you.  In these business times, it is a real benefit to work with the best minds at very little cost.

Each year, this leading motorsport course focuses on a special project.  Students are split into teams and devote their considerable intellect and energy on studying a specific project. This year, their focus is going to be on KERS and LMP cars.

The project is to define, design and model a KERS for use in an LMP car.  The aim is to research and develop the ideas behind a very relevant and current technology – bearing in mind that budgets for LMP are considerably smaller than for an F1 team!

Design consideration – some of the questions the project groups (of 5 students in each) are to consider:

  • What does the industry want
  • How will be device be fitted
  • Cooling requirements
  • Battery systems
  • Surviving for 24 hours without servicing
  • Can you produce lap simulation modelling to show a competitive advantage of your syst
  • Cost of development of a prototype
  • Cost of production units
  • Technology support required when used by teams

The involvement of these students with your company could be of great benefit.  This does not, directly, cost you anything but will allow you access to some inquisitive and exceptionally bright minds, focused on resolving issues within LMP and KERS.

Just drop a line to Clare Stone – Clare.Stone@the-mia.com – to confirm your interest and we will pass this along.
