Following Litestructures' appointment in March 2009 as technical partner of Aston Martin Racing, both companies have spent the intervening months working hard in the build up to the Legendary Le Mans 24hrs race, run this year over the weekend of 13/14 June. The 2009 event was particularly significant for Aston Martin Racing, marked by an auspicious attempt to recreate the glory of their outright victory of 50 years earlier.
As part of the fastidious preparations required for such a demanding event, Aston Martin approached Litestructures to optimize their circuit working environments with LitePro garage trussing structures and a modular telemetry pod. As with every project, the process started by Litestructures conducting a comprehensive appraisal of the requirements, in order to maximize value for the end user. This threw up some challenging requirements – as the team wanted to minimize both shipping volume and build times to make their time at the circuit as efficient as possible. This was embraced by development of the modular telemetry pod to allow it to pack down entirely into the base section and be built in a matter of minutes by a team of two. The whole supply project was completed within 6 weeks, concluding with delivery directly to Aston Martin Racings facility in Banbury, Oxfordshire in early June.
