Lord Green invites MIA members to join in Export Week from November 12th - '...be part of getting the UK exporting'
20 Oct 2012
Lord Green, Minister of State for Trade and Investment has extended an invitation to all MIA members to participate in 'Export Week', which aims to encourage UK exports:
Invitation to join in Export Week – be part of getting the UK exporting
Last November the Prime Minister and I launched a major initiative to boost the number of Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) that export. We set a target of getting 100,000 more British SMEs exporting over the next 5 years.
In the 10 months since, we have seen much in the way of good news. However, as you will know only too well, recent economic figures have not been encouraging. I said last year that the challenge to grow exports is a long-term one – a marathon and not a sprint – and we must keep at it.
I have been enormously impressed by the way that many firms have already seized this challenge. This is very encouraging, but it is crucial that we maintain the momentum behind this effort which is why I intend to use the week beginning November 12th to launch Export Week 2012. UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), working with its partner organisations in Scotland and Wales, will be hosting over 100 events through that week right across the country.
I would like to invite you to come along and be part of any of our wide ranging series of regional events. These will include High Value Opportunities (HVO) seminars, international finance and trade workshops, training on international marketing and utilising websites, the opportunity to meet the experts and a week-long regional road show, consisting of commercial staff from over 50 countries.
If you would like to attend or find out about any of these exciting events, please go to www.exportweek.ukti.gov.uk where you will find all the events listed to date and information on exactly what is happening near you, this site can also be accessed from your mobile phone .
