MIA & Motorsport Foundation® Reward Local Initiative

As part of National Motorsport Week (8th-16th August 2009) the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) and the Motorsport Foundation® supported a £500 prize, open to any MSA affiliated club, for the event which best captured the spirit of National Motorsport Week.

The 2009 inaugural award inspired more local club activity than ever before but Cirencester Car Club was considered to be the clear and deserving winner. Over 300 participants attended their ‘Introduction to Motorsport Weekend’ over the course of the weekend.

The MIA and the Motorsport Foundation® will repeat the support this year for the £500 prize, awarded for an inspiring event during National Motorsport Week 2010 which takes place from 7th to 15th August.

Quotes
Chris Aylett, MIA CEO commented, “This whole concept relies on self-help within motorsport, working together to increase the popularity of our sport. The enthusiasm and passion of our community, when coupled with the reach and success of our UK industry, catches the attention of a wide audience. The more people we can attract to motorsport the better for all. MSA clubs, throughout the UK, are at the heart of this work. The MIA, on behalf of the industry, are pleased to provide the funds for the Motorsport Foundation to recognise the club which best captures the spirit of this initiative of helping one another, and congratulate Cirencester Car Club for being the first to win this excellent award. “

The Clubs Event Director, Cirencester Car Club, James Goodfield said, “Winning the award is important to Cirencester Car Club for three main reasons.  It helps promote the wide range of events we have to offer, while recognising the work of those members who work tirelessly behind the scenes to encourage new members to participate in competition which, without Clubs like ours, might otherwise be inaccessible. Financially the prize allows the club to continue to offer its members varied activities at exceptional value for money”.
