One of the shining stars of the UK economy, the British motorsport industry, has celebrated another successful year in 2012 with the Motorsport Industry Association’s (MIA) annual Business Excellence Awards. The event, which took place on Thursday 10th in Birmingham, as part of the highly successful Autosport Show, saw over 500 guests from across the globe come together to recognise the achievements of the industry over the last twelve months.

The MIA Business of the Year Award was presented to Grove-based Williams F1. Williams F1 had a fantastic year in 2012, with Pastor Maldonado taking his first Grand Prix victory in Spain, the team’s first race victory since the 2004 Brazilian Grand Prix. Williams Hybrid Power (WHP) also made history, by helping the Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro to become the first hybrid vehicle to win Le Mans.

The sell-out MIA Awards Dinner was attended by an audience of 500 senior executives from the international motorsport business community. The main event was supported by Xtrac, Goodridge, Performance Racing Industry, Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, Grainger & Worrall, Desk Top Engineering, Ricardo and Autosport International.

First presented in 1995, the MIA Business Excellence Awards were created to recognise excellence at all levels within the motorsport and high performance engineering industry.

The 2012 winners, in the seven categories, were:
