MIA calls for motorsport industry leaders to be honoured

Show pride in British motorsport business success – nominate the best people for an Honour

The British Honours system recognises UK citizens of outstanding merit.  It has been around for centuries, but since 1993, everyone is free to nominate any individual of their choosing, and the system is very simple.

The MIA believes the motorsport industry should be better recognised and the outstanding individuals, who have led our industry to global success to the benefit of others, should be honoured.

Some current examples would include Ross Brawn, whose efforts have kept the spotlight on our industry and is now based in the UK – but what of Stirling Moss in his 80th year of promoting motorsport all over the world, or Max Mosley?

Amongst drivers, World Champion of F1, Jenson Button, is obvious but what of Dario Franchitti winning the Indy Racing League or Alan McNish, who has been virtually unbeatable in sports cars?

Whilst drivers and the sport catch the public interest, our industry leaders are often overlooked – yet our British industry delivers over £6 billion of sales and employs over 40,000, and is a recognised global leader.

David Richards, Ron Dennis, Jackie Stewart and John Surtees have been honoured, but why not recognise the efforts of Bernie Ecclestone, Malcolm Wilson, Martin Birrane or Alan Gow ?

You may know of another individual from our motorsport industry, who has made a real difference to our business community, brought distinction to British life and enhanced its international business reputation or changed things with an emphasis on achievement, and has the respect of their peers? If so, please  put them forward for an Honour.
The process, via the website link below, makes nominating your choice, very easy.
Such an Honour will reflect well on our industry and keep us in the minds of potential investors, partners and leaders in Government.  Should you need any advice, please call +44 (0) 2476 692 600 or email chris.aylett@the-mia.com

Let’s celebrate our success and reward our best with an Honour– recognising their successful leadership is vital to our future.
