MIA member, RML, celebrates triple success in the FIA World Touring Car Driver and Constructor Championships

22 Nov 2012

On Sunday 18 November Rob Huff sealed the FIA 2012 World Touring Car Drivers’ and Constructors'  Championshipa for MIA member, RML, at Macau in a hard fought final round against his team mates Alain Menu and Yvann Muller. This is the third consecutive WTCC Drivers’ Championship that RML has won together with the third consecutive WTCC Manufacturers’ Championship for Chevrolet, which was secured two rounds previously in Japan.

In the process RML set another record for Chevrolet for 2012, being the first constructor in the WTCC to pass 1,000-points in a single season. In total over the course of the last eight years, RML has scored a record breaking 68 race wins and 36 pole positions in the WTCC for Chevrolet, making this the most successful partnership in the history of the Championship.

This latest Championship success adds another chapter to RML’s winning history and coincides with the launch of a new RML Group website www.rmlmallock.com. The new website showcases RML’s expertise in delivering ‘turn-key’ Touring Car, GT, Prototype Sports Car and Rallying programmes in major motorsport series for global automotive brands.

Ray Mallock, Chief Executive, RML Group said: “Everyone at RML is delighted to have won a third consecutive Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ WTCC Championship for Chevrolet. This latest success adds another chapter to our winning heritage. We are very proud that since our inception in 1984, every race or rally car programme we have managed has won its championship ,and we aim to continue this track record going forward.

“Today we are also launching a new website and brand identity. While we are clearly known for our success on the race track, this new RML Group website also showcases our fast growing Automotive Division which has created flagship vehicles such as the Nissan Juke R and Juke Box. In fact engineering low volume, high profile road and concept cars has become a core expertise of the Group.

“The website also details our expertise in Powertrain and Electronics and our ability to create turn-key marketing platforms for car companies, as typified by the Mercedes-Benz SLR 722 GT bespoke customer race series.”
