MOTORSPORT EXPOTECH: INSTITUTIONS, ENTERPRISES AND UNIVERSITIES DISCUSS THE NEW FRONTIERS OF RESEARCH AND INNOVATION TOGETHER

FIA, ACI CSAI, FIF and FICR, with engineers and technicians from Ferrari, Ducati, Lamborghini, Tatuus and other authoritative international motorsport brands and professors from "Enzo Ferrari" Faculty of Engineering at Modena University, will get together at Motorsport ExpoTech 2012 on February 2 and 3 for a packed programme of conventions, presentations, meetings and awards ceremonies

Modena, December 2011 – High performance vehicles, aerodynamics, safety, innovative materials and the future of automobile racing through analysis of different alternative propulsion systems: these are only a few of the themes that will be addressed at the fourth Motorsport ExpoTech at ModenaFiere on February 2 and 3, 2012. The two-day event in Modena will focus on four theme areas, looking at purely technical aspects, sporting concerns and issues involved in competition organisation and racetrack management. Finally, there will also be an educational area focusing specifically on training.

TECHNICAL AREA
How are high performance racing vehicles designed? Answers from Ferrari, Ducati and Bilstein Motorsport, OZ and Pirelli, among other top experts, and an explanation of the role of research in ongoing improvement from "Enzo Ferrari" Faculty of Engineering at Modena University. The “High performance vehicles” opens the fourth Motorsport ExpoTech on Thursday, February 2: an opportunity for enterprises and universities to meet and discuss these issues, mediated by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Giuseppe Cantore.

Another theme that will be under the academics’ and technicians’ lens is aerodynamics. An “Aerodynamics” convention moderated by Professor Talamelli of Bologna University will look at the issues of aerodynamic loads and aerodynamics applied to racing vehicles, with Ferrari and Tatuus.

Friday, February 3 will start out with a convention entitled “The competitions of tomorrow”, looking at future prospects and new technologies as seen by motor sports institutions. Microvett – CRP’s electrical alternative propulsion systems, B.R.C. Gas Equipment’s gas-fuelled systems and hybrid solutions will be discussed at a meeting of technicians, engineers and motor sports institutions, represented by ACI CSAI and FIA.

The two-day event will close with a meeting on “Materials in motor sports”. In collaboration with the Department of Materials Engineering and the Environment of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the speakers will discuss titanium alloys with Akrapovic, aluminium alloys with Enginsoft, composite materials with Saati Composites and braking materials with Ferodo Racing.
