Automotive Business shows that it is no chicken when it comes to Diversification!

Dove Design Co, based in Dereham, Norfolk, have been a secret jewel of automotive development in our region since 1978. Some of the most exciting and dynamic brand names in motorsport and road cars have been through the doors of their non-descript factory, all seeking their expertise and advice on vehicle design, development and composite structures. Many of the programmes they have been associated with they don't talk about, keeping a close eye on client confidentiality and security.

Whilst on a visit to Dove a few months ago to support an HEC supply chain development initiative, a glimpse of their latest project raised an eyebrow. Tucked away in a corner of their design studio, a place normally full of wings, aero-skirts, and body panels made of exotic Kevlar, carbon-fibre and resins, stood a new kind of coop. No, I didn‟t spell that wrong, I don't mean Coupe, I mean Coop! There stood, in British racing green, a Dutch/American Colonial style chicken barn!

“The Little Barn” chicken coop is a ground up design, a luxury house for your pullets. Made from GRP (normally found in high performance cars) the barns are gel-coated with a choice of green or red semi-gloss, eliminating the need for painting. They have sleek contours and a superior moulded appearance. The roof is hinged, giving full access to the interior for thorough cleaning and inspec-tion. The technology doesn't stop there, the roof and sides are insulated with encapsulated Celotex foam and it has a unique ventilation system, providing an excellent fresh air flow, without draughts. This really does show that business in this region is ready to diversify and innovate to be successful.

You can see the Little Barn for yourself at the Norfolk Show 2010 June 30th on stand 430 or why not check out their web site at:- www.little-barn.co.uk
