Careers Guidance
The UK Motorsport Industry’s success is testimony to the 38,500 people that work within it – 25,000 of which are qualified engineers. The MIA therefore works hard to help those seeking motorsport employment to find their niche.

There are wide-ranging career opportunities for those wishing to be part of this exciting and rewarding industry. A career in motorsport can involve working long hours and weekends, lots of time away from home, and working whilst exposed to the elements... Still keen? Good, because the rewards can be great - not only are the wages attractive, but working as part of a team and achieving success in such a high-pressure sport is one of the best feelings in the world. Of course, as with any industry, the best companies will attract the best employees - so if you want to be part of their success, you must work hard.

Motorsport Careers
The MIA Motorsport Industry Careers Guide is a helpful reference tool for people wishing to find out how to establish a career in motorsport. The guide features contributions from a number of motorsport companies and industry luminaries, who provide vital advice on how to go about achieving your ambitions. Click here to download the Careers Guide.

Apprenticeships
Unfortunately no register currently exists that charts which motorsport companies offer work experience or apprenticeships. It therefore remains the responsibility of the individual to directly contact potential companies who may provide this valuable service to students.

Which motorsport course should I choose?
Naturally, obtaining good qualifications is vital to a successful career in our industry. Your choice of University or College course should always cater to the specific direction that you would like your career to take. Please browse our education links and approach each individual college or University for more specific course-related information.

How to start racing
The sporting side of UK motorsport is governed by the Motor Sport Association (MSA), which deals with all licence holders and competitors. Those wishing to obtain a competition licence should contact the MSA and ask to be directed to a recognised member of the Association of Racing Drivers Schools (ARDS).
