A number of our members are involved in motorsport recruitment. It may prove worthwhile to contact them and see if they can be of any assistance. You will find them in our recruitment links section.
Apprenticeships
Unfortunately no register currently exists that charts which motorsport companies offer work experience or apprenticeships. It therefore remains the responsibility of individual students to contact directly potential companies who may provide this valuable service to students. In our education links section, you will find a link to a website offering engineering apprenticeships.
How to start racing
The sporting side of the industry in the UK is governed by the Motor Sport Association (MSA). They deal with all licence holders and competitors. Please contact the MSA and ask to be directed to a recognised member of the Association of Racing Drivers Schools (ARDS) authorised to deliver the necessary training to enable you to obtain your competition licence, without which you will not be able to compete.
Which motorsport course should I choose?
Naturally, obtaining good qualifications is vital to a successful career in our industry. Your choice of university or college should always be based on your personal preference, taking into account the specific direction that you would like your career to go in and the value of the contribution that each course/qualification could make towards achieving this. There are a number of courses available on varying levels. Our education links section lists these. Please browse through them and approach each individual college or university for more specific course related information. The MIA careers guide also includes a helpful summary of available courses.
