Patent Box for your business seminars with HMRC

Thursday 5 December 2013 - Birmingham
Tuesday 28 January 2014 - East Midlands
8am - 11am
The 2013 Finance Act included the final legislation on the new Patent Box incentive.

The design principles are simple but applying them throws up many issues. For example:
• Is the entire product profit in the Patent Box if the patented invention is in a component, designed to be incorporated in the product but also used in other units?
• If a UK business buys a patent that has already been developed, what does it need to do to also be within the Patent Box?

Together with our guest speakers, Rachel Hodge, HMRC Midlands Patent Box specialist and Robin Oxley, Partner of Marks & Clerk, patent attorneys, we will talk through the following:
• Overview of this new and valuable tax relief
• Eligibility and computation of benefits
• What inventions ( including software ) can be patented
• How the rules apply to a range of examples of products and other income streams

You will also hear about examples of products and processes, different licensing arrangements and issues such as the ones above so that businesses can understand how the rules will apply to their specific situation.

Attendees are welcome to email catherine.j.dowell@uk.pwc.com any brief anonymous examples and we will include them in the seminar material.
