Delta Composites Ltd were a headline sponsors at the recent inaugural MIA members-only Motorsport to Automotive (M2A) event held inside the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) Engineering Centre at Whitley - the fully integrated Design, Research and Development centre for all current Jaguar Products. An event which may well prove to be timely and wholly successful for DCL.
With a commitment to meeting the challenges of manufacturing composites components for the automotive industry in the 21st Century, Delta Composites Ltd (DCL), based in Buckingham, saw this event as an ideal platform to present their expertise. Graham Sprowell, Sales and Production Manager at DCL said: “We have built an unrivalled reputation over the past 10 years as a dedicated supplier to the F1, motorsport and automotive sectors with a unique combination of innovation, design and composites engineering experience. As the interest and use of composites grows in main-stream automotive production, we value the opportunity of meeting JLR executives and sharing with them our experience of composites engineering and manufacture”.
The event was a sell-out to MIA members with many exhibitors anticipating to secure a ‘chance to meet’ many of the invited Jaguar Land Rover production, design engineers and leading executives. A key note to all those from JLR was their desire to find ways to utilise the expertise of the MIA delegates, to deliver lightweight materials and low carbon solutions and meet the demands of their urgent design and engineering for their new vehicles programmes.
Chris Aylett, MIA CEO said prior to the event that he believed it was timely for MIA members to pro-actively engage with mainstream OEMs and Tier Ones – and that this JLR event is the start of an exciting and profitable journey.
Certainly the event was well attended by JLR designers and engineers with around 200 invitees visiting the event during the day. Graham Sprowell added: “It was a good day for DCL and we were pleased to welcome many senior JLR executives to the DCL stand. The enquiries made and the discussions we had were very specific to the manufacture of structural, non-structural and body panel composite components and follow-up meetings are already arranged to develop our dialogue with those we met”.
