The MIA expands its motorsport presence in the USA

The Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Don Taylor as its development director for the West Coast Region of the USA. Don will join his two fellow directors, Jeremy Byrne who represents the North region, and Michael Bailey in the South East.

All three positions demonstrate the MIA’s strong links with the ever-growing USA motorsport market, and cement the association’s capabilities in representing its members, and growing their businesses, in this all important market.

“After 15 years of being involved with the MIA, I am extremely pleased to accept this pivotal role and look forward to helping members with their business development programmes,” said Don Taylor.

“This representation increases the MIA’s presence in the USA, in a region which has a strong, historic infrastructure of teams and suppliers involved in drag, sportscar, and formula car racing. Being located in Los Angeles puts me at the heart of automotive performance in the USA’s western region, and in a prime position to be able to help MIA members to find valuable market information and connections.”

Don has been a consultant with an automobile manufacturer on their racing program strategy, and recently served as senior advisor, Competition Rules for the 100 MPG, Automotive X Prize; an efficient vehicle design competition. He held the position of senior director, national technical operations at the National Hot Rod Association, where he was responsible for driver safety and improvements. As a group manager at GM Racing, based in Charlotte, he guided the factory NASCAR, drag racing, and motorsports safety programs. He began his career as an engineer and stylist on various production and concept car projects at Ford.

Chris Aylett, chief executive of the MIA said: “This appointment is a great development for the MIA and is testament to our global strategy to support our members’ growth aspirations especially in ‘hot spots’ such as the West Coast.”
