China - 17 October 2011
UKTI and the China Britain Business Council (CBBC) will host a high profile Advanced Manufacturing Summit event in Beijing on 17 October 2011. The one-day event, and its associated trade missions, will provide a platform to highlight UK capability in aerospace and automotive. The main technology themes of composites, aero engine technology, new energy vehicles and vehicle standards will have a strong sustainable manufacturing focus.
The Chinese partners at the event will be the China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF) for the automotive sector and AVIC on the aerospace side. The audience will include key Chinese Government decision makers, trade bodies and major Chinese automotive and aerospace companies. The UK keynote speaker at the Summit will be UK Business Ambassador Professor Julia King CBE, Vice Chancellor of Aston University.
At the Summit, UK companies will present on the major technology areas outlined above and hold one to one meetings with key Chinese aerospace and automotive companies.
Following the Summit, trade mission groups will visit other centres in China which may include X’ian, Harbin and Guizhou (aerospace), and Guangdong, Foshan, Shenzhen, Chongqing and Shanghai (Ian to advise). The mission programmes will conclude on 20 October.

India - 7 November 2011
UKTI’s Advanced Engineering team is arranging a Technology Partnering event in India w/c 7 November. We are in active dialogue with major companies in India’s aerospace and automotive sectors to host business exchanges at their offices which will also include introductions to their supply chain. This is your opportunity to register an early interest and become a key part of the UK offer that UKTI presents to these influential businesses in November. The aerospace focus of the event will be on Mumbai and Bangalore and the automotive focus will be on Mumbai and Pune.
UKTI has worked closely with the Indian companies to identify their business and technology requirements. We will select the UK group to fully match these needs. The target India companies are: Tata and Mahindra & Mahindra (automotive) and Larsen & Toubro, Godrej, HAL and Bharat Electronics Ltd (aerospace) and their supply chains.
The UKTI event will coincide with an automotive technology conference that the IMecheE is running in Pune on 8 and 9 November. UK automotive companies taking part in the UKTI event will have the opportunity to attend the IMechE conference.
