URGENT NOTICE of Midlands Automotive Industry Summit - February 3rd, ICC, Birmigham from 8am until 10 am

Over the last few weeks, The Birmingham Post and the Birmingham Mail have been running a campaign in support of Jaguar Land Rover's plan to secure loan guarantees. These will allow it to continue its investment in research and development and the strategic role it plays in the Midlands regional economy and UK automotive sector.

Urgent action is needed to champion the Midlands automotive sector by presenting to Ministers, and other policy makers, a clear manifesto of the industry's current priorities. The 'credit crunch' is having a significant negative impact on the automotive sector and, in turn, the Midlands regional economy beyond JLR.

So The Birmingham Post, Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, CBI, Birmingham City Council, Marketing Birmingham and The NEC Group are staging a Midlands Regional Automotive Industry Summit on Tuesday 3rd February 2009 between 8.00am - 10.00am at the International Convention Centre.

This critical event has been created, at extremely short notice, and aims to develop and present a 15-point plan and communiqué to the Government during the same week.

The Summit is open to all representatives from industry, unions, academics and commentators, government, financial institutions and other interested parties - all are welcome. We expect over 200 people to attend, who will be asked to spell out their view of industry priorities and present a comprehensive and consistent message to Government and others.

The organisers are Urban Communications, contact Kevin Johnson or Tim Rudman on 0121 237 6016 or email natalie@urbancomms.com
