"Attached are two documents that were recently issued by the MSA. The first outlines, in simple terms, the case for allowing local communities throughout Britain to host 'closed road”'motorsport events to benefit their community.
A simple amendment to current legislation will allow Britain to compete on a level playing field with Europe in the area of 'closed road' motorsport events. Many European communities, every year, host closed road events and benefit substantially from the commercial income generated. We believe it is time for Britain to be allowed to do the same.
Each event could generate £2m for each local community and in these times of hardship such figures cannot be dismissed particularly as there is a commitment by the MSA that there would be no cost to public finances.
I have also taken the liberty of enclosing a draft letter which you may wish to use as the basis of your writing to your local MP and local authorities, to encourage them to consider supporting this suggestion of the MSA.
I do hope you will take a short moment in time to consider this suggestion and lend your support.
The British motorsport industry needs this boost to our national motorsport scene to ensure prosperity and employment for many. No-one can afford to ignore such an obvious opportunity to boost business during these difficult times and I hope you recognise the value of those jobs to these local communities, and these small businesses at this time.
Thank you in advance for your help.
