Wright Hassall LLP have just issued a free immigration e-bulletin due to the recent changes to the legislation.
On the 17 December in the High Court it was found that the Government's interim immigration cap was unlawful. (The interim cap was introduced in July 2010 prior to the permanent limit on 6 April 2011). The court decided that the Home Secretary had not carried out the correct parliamentary procedures before implementing the interim cap but did not rule that the cap itself was unlawful. The Government acted quickly following the High Court decision and implemented new legislation on 21 December.
