Xtrac Win Double Awards

Xtrac was a double winner at the inaugural Insider Made in the South East Awards, winning both the coveted Manufacturing Company of the Year (over £25m turnover) and Apprenticeship Scheme awards at the prestigious event, held at G Live in Guildford on 10th October. The awards, which were compèred by BBC journalist Justin Webb, heard from keynote speakers Alan Foster, operations director at McLaren Automotive, and Insider Media's managing director Marlen Roberts. The winners will now go through to the Insider Made in the UK Awards, to be held in Liverpool in 2014.

The International Festival for Business (IFB) will be the UK’s biggest business event in 2014 and Prime Minister David Cameron has given the 61-day event his full backing. Described as the 'Olympics for business' Insider Media will be staging a major 'Made in the UK Awards Dinner' as part of IFB to celebrate the country’s burgeoning manufacturing sector.

As a winner of these Insider’s awards , Xtrac have automatically been shortlisted for the major Made in the UK Awards in 2014. Launched in 1991, Insider is now the UK’s biggest regional business news, events and publishing organisation. The Made in the South East Awards recognise and reward the talent and skills that the region has in abundance and the wealth of manufacturing companies that are driving the UK’s economic recovery.

The judges were enormously impressed not only with the fact that Xtrac invests so heavily in its apprenticeship training but also the fact that it promoted manufacturing, motorsport and engineering to young people in the local community.

Xtrac's components and transmissions are used by eight Formula One teams, as well as by all the US IndyCar teams. The judges felt Xtrac had the edge over the others with its total commitment to developing the talent of its workforce and to investing in its innovative technology.
