Zytek Engineering has been chosen to supply the engine for the Formula Renault 3.5 Series 2012 till 2014 with a bespoke engine.
The engine, code named the ZRS03, has been specifically designed as a 3.4-litre V8, generating 530bhp at 9,250rpm – fifty more horsepower than the series current engine.
In the past, the Repton based manufacturer delivered specified power units for Formula 3000, A1GP and the Auto GP series. Zytek engines have also won in class at Le Mans and powered Zytek’s own chassis to overall victories in the Le Mans Series and American Le Mans Series races, along with the LMS LMP2 drivers and team championships in 2009.
John Manchester, Zytek Engineering Operations Director: “Zytek is extremely privileged to have been chosen as the engine manufacturer for such a high profile racing series. To have the opportunity to form a partnership with such a respected brand as Renault is indeed an honour. Zytek has over 16 years experience supplying engines for single make racing formula and we are sure that we can make a contribution to help make what is already a very successful racing series even more successful.”
