bf1systems, an engineering firm developing advanced electronics for the motorsport and aerospace industry, has been selected as part of the Future 50 for the third year in a row. The Future 50 project identifies East Anglian entrepreneurs or enterprising companies who are seen by the judges as the “ones to watch” for the future. With judges from Coutts, NWES, Birketts and Lovewell Blake , this is prestigious recognition in a region well-known for entrepreneurial companies.
When bf1systems was first selected as one of the Future 50 in 2009, it was operating as engineering specialists BERU f1systems. In January 2011 a management buyout (MBO) was completed, led by Managing Director, John Bailey. The company has over 80 employees and has a forecast turnover of about £7.5 million for 2011.
Since the MBO, the company has remained a market leading provider of electrical, electronic and composite solutions to clients in the Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace and Marine Industries. bf1systems customers include World Championship winning vehicles in F1™, IndyCar, World Rally and Moto GP. The company also supply their award winning tyre pressure monitoring systems to Lamborghini, Bentley, Aston Martin and Maserati.
bf1systems’ engineering capabilities also allows it to provide innovative solutions for major players in the Aerospace industry, which has led to the company working alongside Rolls Royce and Airbus on ground breaking technology within the composites arena.
The companies or individuals chosen for the Future 50 operate across many different sectors and demonstrate a passion to create a dynamic business culture.
“Being selected for the Future 50 for a third year in a row is a great honor and achievement for the entire company,” said John Bailey, MD, bf1systems. “Since last year’s award, we completed a management buyout whilst continuing to provide our customers with excellent products and services. We are reinvesting our profits to fund new products and capabilities to keep bf1systems in the lead in some very competitive world markets. This has been our strongest year yet and we are already working on several major innovations that we hope to announce in 2012.”
