The championship winning pairing of West Surrey Racing (WSR) and Colin Turkington will be reunited next month as they take to the world stage to contest the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in their eBay Motors-backed BMW 320si.

The Sunbury-on-Thames-based team has secured the backing of the UK’s largest automotive marketplace, eBay Motors, and will be fielding their BMW 320si for three meetings; contesting the Portimao, Brands Hatch and Brno rounds.
WSR, who are currently supported by eBay Motors in the domestic British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), will be sporting an eye-catching Anglo-German livery for the WTCC rounds; eBay.co.uk has more than 18 million visitors a month and the company sees the WTCC as an ideal platform from which to reach motoring enthusiasts across Europe and beyond.
Current British Touring Car Champion Turkington will be making his first race appearance of the season and is keen to execute a strong performance in the world championship.
The 28-year old driver from Portadown commented, “I’m really excited about racing again, being back with WSR and having the backing of eBay Motors. Like always I’m hoping to do well, obviously it’s difficult to know what to expect; it’s my first race of the season but I know the car inside out and although I’ve only been for a single test day at Portimao I have a good idea of the track and its layout so we should be fine."
WSR Team Principal Dick Bennetts commented, “We are very excited about taking on the best in the world and it is great to have Colin back on board for this along with the support of eBay Motors who have made it possible. We will be contesting the next three rounds and then hopefully be in a position to compete in Japan and Macau at the end of the year when we have fulfilled our BTCC commitments. Our main target will be to make a strong impression in the Independents’ category, we know the competition will be tough but we will be looking forward to the challenge.”
Andrew Hooks of eBay Motors commented, “We have been supporting the WSR team in BTCC this year and we’re delighted to be able to extend that. Europe is very strong marketplace for us, especially in the UK and Germany and we feel that the FIA WTCC, along with WSR and Colin, will provide us with a great platform from which to showcase our offering to European buyers and beyond.”
