Motorsport in Argentina Interactive Workshop

Argentina - even amidst the current doom and gloom, the "land of silver" is still shining and it has the second largest motorsports industry in the Americas after the USA. Recently, several UK companies have secured motorsport business including transmissions from Xtrac – the MIA wants to help members make contacts and grow business in this strong market.
“The pound has dropped 25% recently, so making imports cheaper and Argentine companies now having more US$ to spend. Overall, this market is as good as it has ever been in the last decade for UK companies” says the British Embassy in Buenos Aires.
The motorsports scene in Argentina goes back a long way (remember Fangio and Reutemann) and is just as vibrant today, with several top-line series commanding live television coverage and specific motorsport sections in no less than 27 national newspapers and 4 dedicated weekly magazines:

TC (Turismo Carratera) is the most popular series in Argentina, using 6 cylinder, 3 litre engines and featuring cars from Ford, Chevrolet and Dodge amongst others. TC is the oldest racing series in the world, having run for over 70 years - Juan Manuel Fangio was their champion in 1940 and 1941. www.actc.org.ar

TC2000 is the most technologically advanced series in South America - attracting Drivers like ex-F1 star Norberto Fontana - and is similar to our BTCC, using 2-litre engines and attracting entries from Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet, Honda, Volkswagen and Renault. www.tc2000.com.ar

Top Race V6 (3 litre engine with a Berta Kit delivering up to 350 bhp) is an exciting new series with good funding and features entries from VW, Mercedes-Benz, Opel, Ford and Peugeot. There is also a Top Race Junior feeder series with Ford, Opel and Alfa Romeo models using a 2.3 litre Duratec Berta engine producing 260 bhp. www.trv6.com.ar
