Developing Energy Efficiency through Motorsport
Conference prior to Mobil1 Twelve Hours of Sebring
Thursday, 13th March 2008
The Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) hosted its Annual Sebring Business conference and luncheon on the morning of 13th March 2008, during preparations for the 56th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring event. Aston Martin race driver and former UK Government Minister, Keynote speaker Lord Paul Drayson captured the audience and answered questions on his 2008 bio-fuel USA race plans.
The conference was supported by UK Trade & Investment, Lotus Engineering and Ethanol Promotion and Information Council (EPIC) and highlighted the R&D and commercial opportunities of developing energy efficiency through motorsport.
The event was held at the exclusive Four Points by Sheraton Chateau Elan Hotel alongside the Sebring track and attracted over 100 senior executives and press and featured leading guest speakers from the international motorsport industry and leading race drivers too.
Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA, said, “ALMS recently reaffirmed its position as motorsport’s global leader in alternative fuels through unique partnerships with the EPA, the Department of Energy and SAE. This global conference examined the impact of this initiative. It brought into focus new technologies and the significant business opportunities created by linking high performance engineering and motorsport with energy efficiency. Motorsport is delivering race proven energy efficient engineering solutions and attracting positive public interest in doing so.”
The MIA’s Clean Racing energy efficiency global initiative shows how motorsport is wholly relevant to the future of the automotive industry as it showcases energy efficient success to the public, on the race track.
