A special evening with Charlie Whiting

Thursday 15 March 2018
18:00 - 22:30
Williams Conference Centre, home of the Williams F1 Team - Grove, Oxfordshire

Enjoy this rare chance to meet Charlie Whiting, a legendary figure in F1
and unlimited access to the exceptional Williams Grand Prix Collection

Immediately following the two pre-season 2018 F1 tests in Spain, join Charlie Whiting, FIA F1 Race Director and Head of the F1 Technical Department, who will answer your questions about the season ahead and years past.

This unique evening is a rare chance to hear Charlie’s inspirational story spanning over 4 decades - from race/rally car preparer to enforcer of F1 rules with behind-the-scenes stories and insights to share.

You and your guests will have access to the magnificent Williams Grand Prix Collection of over 40 Williams race cars from 30+ years of F1 racing and help raise funds for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) and Motorsport Foundation.

Initially, Charlie and his brother Nick prepared saloon and rally cars near Brands Hatch, running Davina Gallica’s Surtees in British F5000 in 1976. Charlie moved into F1 with Hesketh Racing the following year then joined Bernie Ecclestone's Brabham team in 1978 as Chief Mechanic to 1981 and 1983 World Champion Nelson Piquet.

Charlie became FIA Technical Delegate to Formula One In 1988 and in 1997 FIA Director and Safety Delegate, still one of the roles he holds today.

Charlie now runs every F1 race on a day-to-day basis working with each FIA ASN – a role which includes track safety, overall technical management and being the famous Race Starter too!

This is your chance to gain a fascinating insight into the global phenomenon which Formula One has become where Charlie has been every step of the way. As the future of F1 is clearly ready to change, his views will be of special value.

This marvellous evening begins at 18.00 with a drinks reception for you and your guests to make new business contacts whilst enjoying the fabulous Williams Grand Prix Collection. A fine dining experience follows, after which Chris Aylett will interview Charlie and take questions from the audience.
